Background
Denmark lacked a free, ad-free place to train school mathematics systematically. Both for the pupil facing an exam, the student teacher who needs the curriculum to stick, and the adult who wants their maths back. MatematikKlar is an internal product at AStyltsvig Consulting, built to close that gap.
The idea
Exercises that explain why: the answer options are built on genuine student misconceptions, hints point to the method rather than the answer, and every option comes with an explanation, including the wrong ones. The progression follows Fælles Mål, the Danish national curriculum, all the way from 1st grade to the final upper-secondary year.
The solution
A Vue app on Cloudflare Pages with 912 exercises across 12 grade levels and 72 topic categories. On top of the classic training there is Lightning Maths, where mental arithmetic becomes a sport in 60-second rounds with server-kept time and daily, weekly, and all-time leaderboards. There is also a didactics library with 11 articles and quizzes for those who will stand at the blackboard themselves.
Everything is free: no payment, no ads, no lock-in. Only the user’s progress is stored, data is processed in the EU, and the account can be reset or deleted in one click. The project is open about being developed with AI as an experiment, and every single exercise has a report-an-error button.
Outcome
A living product in daily production with training, competition, and didactics in one place. It is also an experiment in how far AI-assisted product development reaches when openness and fast error correction are part of the design from the start.
