Døveforeningen af 1866
A new site and a new DNS setup for one of Denmark's oldest Deaf associations.
Background
Døveforeningen af 1866 is one of Denmark’s oldest Deaf associations and also operates an event venue for hire. The website was dated, and DNS sat with a provider that had become a bottleneck for everything the association wanted to change.
Brief
A proper website and a DNS setup the association controls itself. The move had to happen without the association’s Google Workspace email going down along the way.
Approach
A new Astro site on Cloudflare Pages. DNS was moved from Gigahost to Cloudflare with careful handling of MX records, so mail ran uninterrupted through the entire cutover. The association also got a professional PDF price list for the venue rental, giving them one document to send to prospective renters.
Outcome
Live at df1866.dk with running costs close to zero, because Cloudflare Pages is free at this scale. No lost mail, no vendor lock-in, and a foundation that can be built on.
